Barcelona have confirmed that talented young midfielder Marc Bernal has signed a new contract with the club.
Bernal is one of several players being tipped to break into the first team soon at Barcelona after coming through the ranks at the club.
Here’s the club’s official statement:
“FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with the player Marc Bernal for the adjustment of his contract, which ties him to the Club until June 30, 2026, when the youth phase will close.
“The Catalan midfielder renewed his contract when he made the jump to the youth team, and now sees his link extended after a dynamic first season at Barça Atlètic. He is currently doing the pre-season with the first team, under Hansi Flick.”

According to reports, Barca have also increased his release clause from a mere €6 million to €20m, in a bid to ward off any potential interest in the midfielder.
The 17-year-old is currently training with Hansi Flick and will be hoping to be part of the team’s pre-season tour squad to the United States.
With Flick without several key midfielders right now, and potentially unable to afford a new pivot, Bernal has a golden chance to stake a claim for some first-team minutes.
