Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has been asked about his future while on international duty with Germany.
The stopper has taken over from Manuel Neuer as the No. 1 for the national team and was asked if there’s any chance he could replace him at Bayern Munich too in the future.
Ter Stegen responded with a smile and made it clear he’s very happy where he is right now.
“I have a relatively long contract at Barcelona. I’m very happy there. My family is happy in Catalunya. I’m looking forward to the season, that’s where I have to focus,” he told a press conference.
“You never know what will happen in the future. I don’t know if playing in Germany again will be a goal for me in the future. We’ll see. But overall, I’m very happy with my situation and where I am at the moment.”
The Barca stopper also spoke about his team’s winning start to the season under new manager Hansi Flick.
“I think the start is very good. I’m happy for him that everything is going the way it is,” he added.
“We can’t rest on our laurels. We have a very young team, Lewandowski, I and Co. have to lead the team. Flick has a clear opinion and we have to implement it.”
Ter Stegen is set to face Hungary and the Netherlands over the international break with Germany.
