Barcelona have pencilled in a return date for Frenkie de Jong after the Dutchman finally returned to training on Monday.

De Jong has been out of action since April due to a problematic ankle injury but is now closing in on a comeback.

According to Diario AS, De Jong is feeling good and, provided there are no setbacks, he will be given the green light to return next week.

Hansi Flick will therefore be able to count on De Jong for his team’s next home game against Getafe on Wednesday, September 25.

Barcelona’s injury situation is start to improve slightly, despite the recent loss of Dani Olmo to a hamstring problem.

Ansu Fati and Fermin Lopez are expected back this week, while Gavi may be the next to make his long-awaited comeback from ACL surgery.

Barca’s remaining casualties are Marc Bernal, who is out for 12 months, and Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araujo who are not expected back until the end of the year.
